Capital District Animal Emergency Clinic

When Time Matters...

The Capital District Animal Emergency Clinic (CDAEC) was developed by local veterinarians in 1984 as a means to provide emergency/urgent care services and continuous care of hospitalized critical patients beyond those services available during normal veterinary hospital hours of operation.  CDAEC is an extension of the care provided by your family veterinarian and your family veterinarian will be integrally involved with the continium of care once your pet is discharged from our care.

We occupy a 15,000 sq ft. state of the art facility that meets the accreditation standards of the American Animal Hospital Association and the NYS Veterinary Medical Association.  The CDAEC  hospital is easily accessible to all areas of the greater Capital District from I87 or I 787. We are located at 222 Troy Schenectady Road (Route 2) Latham, NY.  Please view our "Maps and Directions" page for details.

If your pet is in need of emergency service or is being transferred from your family veterinarian’s office you may come directly to us without an appointment.  IF TIME ALLOWS call us at 518-785-1094 and provide a brief description of the problem and your approximate time of arrival.  This will allow our staff to prepare for your arrival.  Please bring pertinent medical records, list of current medications, known allergies, etc. whenever possible. If your pet has swallowed a toxic substance bring the container or label with you.  You may also call us in route for medical advice if the condition of your pet changes during your trip to CDAEC.  Upon arrival, if needed we can safely transport your pet from your vehicle to the point of initial examination.  Patients requiring hospitalization can be admitted to our overnight continuous care unit.  Less critically ill patients will be treated and discharged as outpatients.
